Tell us about yourself, your business, and how long have you known or worked with Myriad?
My name is Delwen Stander. I run a law firm and a mediation practice. I’ve been doing law for about 35 years and mediation for about the last 20 years. I’ve worked with Myriad for over 20 years.
Can you give us an example of a bad day turned into a good one with Myriad’s team help?
Myriad has helped us out of a lot of bad days, not just one. I’ll give you a couple of examples. One day I had finished dictating what was going to be about a 25-page opinion to a client. Somehow or other, it was accidentally deleted. You can imagine my consternation when I discovered that it was gone. The dictation was nowhere to be found on our system.
Ammar from Myriad came in, found it somewhere in our system, restored it to where my assistant could get to the dictation. And that was saved. That was about a day and a half worth of work in dictation that could have been lost. That would have been a very, very bad day.
Give you another example. There was once an occasion when we had what was supposed to have been some sort of keyboard or keystroke hack that came through one of our systems computers. It could have resulted in our bank accounts being compromised, but it was quickly found, the virus was detected and deleted, and our system integrity was maintained. That also could have been a very bad day
In today’s digital world with cybersecurity issues, what worried you the most before working with Myriad, and how has Myriad helped solve that?
Well, I don’t think that I’ve ever been worried about working with Myriad because of either a cyberspace issue, a hacking attack issue, or anything like that. Never been worried. And the reason for that is that Myriad’s always looked after us. In the over two decades that Myriad has been doing my computer tech work and looking after our computer systems, our internet, our virus protection, and all the rest of that.
We’ve never had a worry that we were going to be looked after ever. The issue for a law firm is particularly important. Security protects our confidentiality. It protects our client information. And that is paramount for a law firm. Because of Myriad’s expertise, we’ve never had to worry about that. Our systems have been maintained, integral, and safe. Our customer information has always been protected.
What is your experience with Myriad when it comes to service speed, reliability, responsiveness, and quality of support?
What we’ve always received from Myriad is quick, reliable, excellent quality in their service, and excellent response time. Let me give a bit of detail to that. When we send out a request for support, it’s almost immediately responded to. I’m a bit of a Luddite. I’m not that good with computers. I’m not that good with technology. I’ll admit it. Sometimes I do weird things on that computer.
I lean on a key accidentally, or I save something improperly. And my first go to is texting Ammar at Myriad That’s my first reaction. And invariably Omar helps me. Sometimes he jumps on my computer almost instantaneously, finds the problem, fixes it, or he’ll send somebody out. If it’s a major technological issue that we’re facing. Sometimes we have power go out on the mountain in which my office is. Sometimes the internet is affected. It can sometimes make quirks in our system, preventing us from getting going quickly again. We’ve always received excellent, quick service when we’ve had those types of problems. The quality is the best in Chilliwack. I’m sure that Ammar’s company, Myriad, could go up against any tech company in BC or Canada.
The quality is great. Never had a complaint. Referred many people to Myriad over the years and did so with confidence that they would be looked after and looked after properly.
What advice would you give to someone considering a partnership with Myriad Technologies?
If someone is considering partnering with Myriad, I would say absolutely go for it. The service that you will get, the expertise that you will get, the reliability of response that you will get all mitigate in favor of a partnership with that tech company. I’d go further than that. My advice is shop around. Consider what the alternatives are, and you’ll find that Myriad on every score will be better than the other alternatives.
We’ve dealt with other tech companies over the years, in the law firms in which I’ve worked. No one has ever given us the service of Myriad. I can say that categorically. What you will get is good people who know their stuff, who will respond to you appropriately, who will give you the very best of technological advice, and will keep your system safe. That’s what we experience
How confident are you in Myriads’s ability to handle your business’s future needs and growth?
I’m in an interesting stage of my practice. I’ve been doing this for many, many years, and I’m in a transition from being a full-time barrister to being a part-time barrister and hopefully full-time mediator. As such, our needs are changing. We want to keep our systems at the very best of their performance, but we don’t have as many demands as we used to have.”
Myriad’s allowing us to accomplish that. As we look forward to the type of infrastructure that we need inside our business. They’re making sure that we’re staying technologically up to date. But at the same time, not going crazy with the purchasing of new technologies, newer equipment, and that sort of thing. They’re managing our technology for us in an appropriate way instead of upselling us. They’re making sure that what we have is appropriate and will last me for the rest of what I consider to be my practice life.
So these are important things to us. The other thing that Myriad’s been able to do for us is move us into a type of contract where we pay a flat fee per month. That works for a small business. Instead of paying a sort of transactional hourly rate for things as they appear and as the present challenges. Myriad looks after us on a monthly basis at a very reasonable cost, and that too is an important thing for a small business.
